Here’s where we stand…

At Small Shop Strategies and Bearbower Company, LLC, we believe that the work of building a better nonprofit sector starts with us.

That means we hold ourselves accountable to creating spaces — online and offline — where everyone can learn, lead, and thrive.

Here’s what we stand for:

Anti-racism and equity work.

We believe anti-racism is a practice. Black Lives Matter. We’re committed to dismantling systems of oppression and building equity into how we show up, hire, and serve.

LGBTQIA+ Belonging

Pronouns matter. People’s identities matter. We work to ensure our community, content, and contracts affirm people of all genders, bodies, and orientations.

Indigenous Solidarity

We acknowledge we are settlers on Indigenous land. We commit to unlearning colonial systems and taking tangible steps toward decolonization in our practices and partnerships.

Additional commitments + beliefs

  • Reproductive health is a human right.

  • Climate change is real — and urgent.

  • Accessibility is a right, not a privilege.

We commit to making our content, programs, and platforms as accessible as possible, and to adjusting as we learn.

Ongoing commitments

This isn’t a checklist. It’s a commitment to:

  • Continue our own education

  • Audit our policies and practices

  • Hire and collaborate with diversity, equity, and access in mind

  • Take feedback with humility and act on it

We’re not perfect. But we’re committed. And that commitment shows up in the values we embed into every client project, partnership, and policy.
